Technical and Historical Notes

During the early UC 0060s, the Republic of Zeon began development of the space fighter Gobble. The Gobble featured multiple weapon stations that could carry medium-range anti-ship missiles, or vulcan pods or large fuel tanks. It was also armed with six internal missile launchers on its wings, plus four short-range missiles on its landing skids. The Gobble was manned by a pilot and flight officer seated in a row. The Gobble was formally adopted in UC 0070, and by UC 0076, the Principality of Zeon had deployed 3,000 units. Gobbles were assigned to multiple Zeon ships, including the Chibe class, Gwazine class and the massive Dolos class. By the end of the One Year War, the Gobble was superseded by mobile suits as Zeon's main fighting force. The remaining units were relegated to transport duty, delivering weapons and ammunition to mobile suits on the front lines. The later Gattle fighter had a similar design to the Gobble.
