Technical and Historical Notes

Following the successful test trials of the MS-06RP Zaku II High Mobility Test Type during the One Year War, a few minor modifications were made to the design and the new MS-06R-1 Zaku II High Mobility Type went into a limited production run of 22 units. Assigned to specially-selected pilots for field tests and evaluations, the High Mobility Type was highly popular, receiving only a handful of minor complaints and suggestions. With its additional and improved thrusters and increased fuel load, the design proved to be a considerable improvement over the standard MS-06F model. One particular R-1-type unit belonged to ace pilot Captain Shin Matsunaga, whose distinctive white paint scheme and battle record would earn him the nickname "White Wolf of Solomon."
