The Type 89 Base Jabber was a sub-flight system developed by the Earth Federation Forces. Compared to the original Base Jabber, the Type 89 was intended to serve as a space use transport for mobile suits. The Type 89 featured a cockpit in its forward section. If the Type 89’s two underside propellant tanks were removed, the unit could accommodate a second mobile suit. The Type 89 was widely used by the EFF and its Londo Bell task force during the Second Neo Zeon War in UC 0093 and Laplace Incident in UC 0096. The EFF later developed a newer version, the Type 94 Base Jabber.
