When the Earth Federation Forces began ordering and producing smaller, more efficient mobile suits, many new designs were adopted in the early UC 0100s. One of the most successful designs was the RGM-109 Heavygun, and over the course of the next few decades, its design was gradually tweaked and upgraded. As a result, many surplus Heavyguns ended up in the hands of various local defense forces, including the Macedonia Army, which employed the RGM-109M-5. Despite the upgrades, the Heavygun’s design was nearly half a century old when the Zanscare Empire began their militaristic expansion in UC 0153. The Macedonia Army fielded their Heavyguns in resistance, but the mobile suits – and the effort – inevitably proved futile.
