At the conclusion of the One Year War in UC 0080, the Republic of Zeon was restored following the dissolution of the Principality. The Republic was allowed to maintain its own defense force, which included a modified version of the Principality’s Musai class light cruiser. These modified versions featured some improvements to the ship’s thermonuclear reactor and the addition of heat sinks to improve engine efficiency. Two antennas added to the bridge module improved the ship’s communications functions. A pair of secondary guns were added to the ship’s defenses. During the Gryps War in UC 0087, the Republic sided with the Titans over the Axis Zeon and lent some ships as support. Some ships were used during this time by Axis, and years later some with Neo Zeon during the Laplace Incident of UC 0096.
