The Musai class light cruiser served as the backbone of the Principality of Zeon’s space fleet during the One Year War. The Musai class was secretly first developed as the Arcana class civilian transport ship. As part of Zeon’s massive military buildup, Arcana ships were remodeled into the Musai early production type. The Musai’s hangar accommodated four mobile suits, with an additional two stored in the Komusai shuttle. The Musai’s armaments included three 2-barrel mega particle cannons, plus multiple machine guns for rear defense. With the outbreak of war in UC 0079, the Musai class saw its first full-scale deployment at the Battle of Loum. The Musai’s design was refined multiple times throughout the war, with standard, late and final production types all seeing service.
