In its military buildup for the anticipated war against the Earth Federation, the Principality of Zeon’s military was already hard at work developing an improved version of its first combat capable mobile suit, the MS-05B Zaku I. The first of Zeonic Company’s new model Zaku II, the MS-06A (or Type A), was completed in August UC 0077 at the Zum City factory and saw the introduction of external power cables and other minor improvements over the old Zaku I. The Type A underwent mock combat training from December UC 0077 through January UC 0078. Project director Kycilia Zabi declared the MS-06A insufficient, and more improvements were made, leading to the mass produced MS-06C and MS-06F models. Many of the MS-06A models used for testing were later upgraded to the MS-06C version.
