Technical and Historical Notes

The SH-60 Seahawk was a helicopter originally manufactured by Sikorsky Aircraft for the United States Navy. The SH-60 could deploy from naval vessels for a wide variety of mission types, including anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, search and rescue and special insertions. The SH-60 entered service with the U.S. Navy in 1984, long before the arrival of the ASS-1. After the creation of the U.N. government, member nations integrated their military equipment under the banner of the U.N. forces. In 2008, an SH-60 transported troops from the carrier Asuka II to the South Pacific island of Mayan to combat Anti-U.N. forces. In 2059, an SH-60 was used aboard the Macross Frontier emigration fleet for the filming of Bird Human, a movie dramatization of the Bird Human Incident in 2008.
