Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin is a 23-volume manga series originally released in Japan from 2001-2011. It is an expanded reinterpretation of the original 1979 TV series Mobile Suit Gundam. Written and illustrated by original series character designer Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, it was serialized in Gundam Ace magazine. This manga retelling reorders events from the TV series and adds new story elements, including a large prequel arc focusing on Char Aznable and the events leading up to the One Year War. The series was released in English by Vertical from 2013-2015. In 2015, the series' prequel arc was adapted into a six-episode OVA series, also titled Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin.
