Technical and Historical Notes

The RGM-79V GM Night Seeker was a mobile suit created for special forces teams conducting surprise attack operations. The Night Seeker was equipped with extra sensors in its head and additional thrusters in its chest and on its back for landing and increased mobility. The Night Seeker's armaments were the same as the standard RGM-79 GM. The initial production run of 12 Night Seeker units was created by modifying existing GMs. A total of 88 units were created as the result of two additional production runs. The Earth Federation Forces also created the RGM-79LV GM Night Seeker II, based on the RGM-79L GM Light Armor. The Night Seeker II was modified to allow the extra thrusters to be detached via explosive bolts, and this feature was backported to the original Night Seeker. Several Night Seekers were attached to the 033rd Company with the mission of recapturing military bases from the Zeon. The Night Seekers were transported by air via the CB-X5(SGT) Assault Type Gunperry, which was escorted by FF-6 TIN Cods and Depp Rogs. After the Night Seekers took out the enemy defenses, Depp Rogs conducted a bombing run, followed by regular GMs performing mop up duty of enemy forces. In UC 0090, an RGM-86R GM III unit modified with Night Seeker parts was piloted by "Vasuki," a pseudonym for former Titans pilot Yazan Gable.
