Technical and Historical Notes

The RGM-79SP GM Sniper II (Titans Spec) was a unit based on the concept of the One Year War's RGM-79SC GM Sniper Custom. The suit’s long-range shooting abilities were upgraded through the use of a laser sensor and a new optical camera system for ultra long-range sniping. The suit’s precision and firing range were further improved through the use of the L-9 beam rifle, which featured a long barrel. The suit’s effectiveness led it to be used for sniping missions long after the end of the One Year War. In September UC 0084, a GM Sniper II was part of a team deployed by the Al Giza near L2 to investigate Zeon remnant activity. The Titans team then engaged the Zeon remnant force, which included an MS-09SS Dowas Custom, an MS-17 Galbaldy α and an MS-17R Galbaldy α High Mobility Type.
