The RX-81AS G-Line Assault Armor is an alternate configuration of the base model RX-81 G-Line. The RX-81AS is equipped with armor pieces across its main body that are based on the RGM-79FP GM Striker. Its base armaments include the standard vulcan guns and beam sabers, but it can also carry a heat lance, beam rifle, assault shotgun, assault shield and heat lance. Its beam sabers can be removed to mount an assault cannon, missile launchers and an additional thruster unit. The RX-81AS is used in UC 0081 by the Phantom Sweep unit to hunt down the Invisible Knights, a Zeon remnant group. Elements of the RX-81AS are used in a later configuration, the RX-81FC G-Line Full Custom.
