Originally created as a heavily armed long-range support machine, the EMS-VSX3 Totuga was re-purposed for the anti-Crossbone Death Gale Team and was taken in the exact opposite direction. Every other aspect was left intact, but it was given incredible armor that lended it an extreme focus on defense. The “shell” on its back mounted a set of beam shield generators capable of withstanding even battleship-class beam cannons, which destroyed standard beam shields with a single hit. Despite its large size, the Totuga was given good speed so it could cover its teammates, who lacked their own beam shields. Additionally, its armor had a unique multi-layer design, with each layer containing a store of fast-hardening gas that trapped any enemy capable of penetrating it. Because of its bulk, the Totuga could remain unfazed by such attacks, allowing it to easily destroy any enemy trapped within the gas with its hammer hands. However, due to its poor mobility and its lack of ranged weapons, the Totuga was a poor machine when faced in single combat. The sole unit was destroyed near the end of the Jovian War, but was rebuilt three years later as the Bara Totuga, restored to its original purpose in order to help battle the new Jupiter Empire’s renewed attacks on Earth.
