After War Gundam X
(Alternate title: New Mobile Century Gundam X)
After War Gundam X is the seventh Gundam TV series and originally aired in Japan in 1996. It is the third alternate universe TV series and debuted after the conclusion of New Mobile Report Gundam Wing. The series is directed by Shinji Takamatsu with mechanical designs by Kunio Okawara and Junya Ishigaki, character designs by Nobuyoshi Nishimura and a score by Yasuo Higuchi. The series is set in AW (After War) 0015 on an Earth devastated by massive colony drops at the end of the 7th Space War. Armed groups called Vultures roam the devastated Earth in search of mobile suits and other technology to salvage. A young man named Garrod Ran joins a Vulture group after rescuing a Newtype named Tiffa Adill. Gundam X is the only non-UC series to utilize the Newtype concept, and it is the second series to be canceled prematurely. Gundam X's cancelation meant an end to a four year streak of consecutive new Gundam series, and it was followed in 1999 by Turn A Gundam. The series is available on home video in North America from Right Stuf.
