Summary

On the planet Eldora, Freddie provides commentary on the Gunpla Battle one-day Battle Royal happening in GBN on Earth. Other people from Freddie's village watch as he explains the battle, which has Divers using random Gunpla selected by the system. In the current match, Parviz uses a Wing Gundam Zero against Ayame's 00 Qan[T]. As they fight in a space level, Freddie comments how both of them are known for usually piloting SD Gundams in battle. Ayame activates Trans-Am to use the ninja technique Solar Quantum Slash, which Parviz dodges by distracting her with a Heero Yuy toy. He then fires his twin buster rifle and destroys the 00 Qan[T]. Parviz credits his victory to learning from Hiroto Kuga how to use traps in battle. The level then changes to a snow region, and Parviz is immediately attacked by Captain Zeon in a God Gundam. Captain Zeon performs the super move Chokyu Haoh Den'eidan and destroys Parviz in one blow. Kazami Torimachi then drops out of the sky with a Destiny Gundam and attacks with his anti-ship sword, but Captain Zeon catches it with his hands. Captain Zeon then kicks Kazami away, and Freddie is excited about this being a battle between a master and disciple. Captain Zeon tells Kazami that he could've won by attacking from behind, but Kazami answers that he can't disrespect the master he hopes to surpass. Captain Zeon is moved by Kazami calling him master, but he says he won't call Kazami a disciple because he got to this point on his own strength, knowledge and the help of his friends. Captain Zeon tells Kazami to walk his own path, and they attack each other with the hand-based God Finger and Palma Fiocina, which causes a massive explosion and ends in a draw. In the next battle in a space level, Magee uses a Gundam Bael against Mobile Doll May. Magee asks May where her Gunpla is, and she asks if she really has to use it because it's easier for her to move this way. May dodges Magee's attack and then docks in the massive II Neo Zeong. She uses its massive hands to flatten the Gundam Bael and win the fight. May is then attacked by reigning champion Kyoya Kujo, piloting a Strike Freedom Gundam and METEOR. Kyoya dodges May's attacks and gets in close to use the METEOR's beam saber to slice the II Neo Zeong in half. In the next battle, Hiroto uses the Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex to destroy the METEOR. The two trade fire as they descend into Mars' atmosphere. Hiroto dodges Kyoya's beam rifle shots and counterattacks with his tail blade. Hiroto moves in close to attack, and Kyoya grabs one of his DRAGOONs to inflict damage at zero range. Hiroto concludes that just having the right Gunpla won't allow him to beat Kyoya, and Kyoya comments that Hiroto seems uneasy. Kyoya tells Hiroto to let go of those feelings and punches him in the face. Kyoya says he'd normally ask Hiroto to return to Avalon, but he knows that Hiroto now has friends who are dear to him. Hiroto declares that he's a Build Diver and pulls out his ultra-large mace, while Kyoya targets him with a full burst attack. Hiroto jumps into the air and rushes toward Kyoya.

Commentary

Like other ONAs carrying the Battlogue branding, this one-shot special was directed by famed mecha designer and animator Masami Obari. It features all the trademarks you'd expect from his work, mainly mecha engaging in dynamic poses and actions. In just under 10 minutes, the ONA squeezes in multiple battle royale fights between cast members from the two Build Divers series. For many of these Divers, they're using Gunpla that place them outside their comfort zone. It was good to see Parviz adapt and use a trap to defeat Ayame. The fight between the Kazami and Captain Zeon really plays up the whole master/disciple vibe that Domon Kasshu and Master Asia had in G Gundam. I also found it interesting that May was hesitant to use the massive II Neo Zeong, and though it helped her defeat Magee, it proved a liability against Kyoya. It was fitting that the final battle was between Hiroto and Kyoya, because it symbolizes that Hiroto has moved forward and can now stand on his own with his new teammates. Like the previous Battlogue, there isn't really a story going on here, but it's fun to see the various match ups and the spotlight on the mobile suits.
