Technical and Historical Notes |
Following the end of the war, Battling grows in popularity as a gladiatorial combat game between two armored troopers. Because of its popularity, many former military pilots become Battling jockeys, using customized armored troopers. One such pilot is Galvin Fox, who uses the ATM-09-BTC Scopedog Battling Custom. Based on his military unit, the ATM-09-SAC Scopedog Fox Special, the Scopedog Battling Custom is heavily customized for Fox's style of combat. The lower portion of the left arm has been replaced, mounting a new forearm with a protective shield powerful enough to endure a direct blast from an anti-AT rifle. The right arm has been entirely replaced with a custom arm, which also mounts a shield and spiked arm punch. Other armaments include a standard heavy machine gun/grenade launcher.
Billing himself as the "Invincible Silver Fox of Melkia," Fox becomes a popular draw in the Melkian city of Tapping and is best known for his brutality toward opponents. Fox's trademark move involves using his spiked arm punk to rip an AT's head off, which is followed by pulling the pilot out of the cockpit and crushing him. In a rather unorthodox duel between an AT and a man on foot, Fox becomes the second target of Merowlink Ality, a former soldier seeking revenge upon the officers who betrayed his comrades during the war.
