Technical and Historical Notes

An experimental mobile suit developed by the New United Nations Earth military, the NRX-007 Correl is built with tremendous speed and mobility as top requirements. To fill this tall order, the engineers who design the Correl strip this mobile suit of almost every trace of armor and "excess" weight, even exposing crucial joints and frame parts. As a result, the Correl is extremely light, and capable of moving at lightning-fast speeds. Due to its super light frame, however, the Correl's ability to carry any weapons is drastically limited to a single, hand-held beam knife. When New UNE officers Shagia Frost and Olba Frost are looking for highly skilled pilots capable of taking down the Vulture ship Freeden's GX-9901-DX Gundam Double X mobile suit, they take charge of the Correl prototype. The Frost brothers assign use of this mobile suit to a possible candidate, the extremely psychotic Demar Graif, who earns the nickname "White Death" during a military campaign in Africa. Although the Correl is originally painted in a red-on-light gray paint scheme, Graif refuses to pilot it until it's painted "perfectly white." With his new mobile suit properly colored, Graif moves out to destroy the Gundam Double X. During Operation Sacrifice, the New UNE's invasion of Berude, capital city of the nation of Northernbell, Shagia Frost lures Garrod Ran's Double X into an enclosed town square, where Graif proceeds to administer the mobile suit equivalent of a "death by a thousand cuts." However, Garrod gets lucky when he accidentally blocks one of Graif's beam knife attacks with his beam rifle. The resulting explosion knocks back the Correl and dazes Graif. Since the Correl has virtually no armor to speak of, the mobile suit and its psychotic pilot easily perish under a hail of vulcan gun fire from the Double X.
