During the course of the Bloody Valentine War, ZAFT creates many variants of their standard mobile suit ZGMF-1017 GINN for use in different environments. One such variation is the YF-3A GINN FEMWS (Fighter Experiment Maneuver in Water & Surface), which has been heavily customized for amphibious combat. The GINN FEMWS is armed with a pair of torpedo launchers and rifle dart launchers. The GINN FEMWS' customized experience resembles the dedicated amphibious mobile suits that ZAFT later produces, such as the UMF-4A GOOhN.
