Technical and Historical Notes

The mobile cruiser Chimaira is a refit Zanzibar class vessel that serves as the mothership of the Chimaira Corps, an ace mobile suit test team assigned to A Baoa Qu. In September UC 0079, the Chimaira arrives at Side 3's 3rd Dock for refitting. Over the next three weeks, a cargo bay unit is attached to the ship's rear section to increase its mobile suit capacity. A mobile suit launch catapult extends outward from the cargo bay under the ship's main hull. In December UC 0079, the Chimaira Corps conducts tests of multiple Gelgoog models, including the prototype YMS-14 (later redesignated as MS-14S) and others. By the end of the One Year War, three additional Zanzibar class ships have undergone the same refit as the Chimaira. The Chimaira goes missing after the end of the war, but remains active until at least UC 0090.
