Technical and Historical Notes

The Gallop class is a land battleship used by the Principality of Zeon on Earth during the One Year War. Powered by eight jet engines, the Gallop can hover over the ground at high speed. The Gallop is armed with a pair of twin machine guns and a twin main cannon. It has a carrying capacity of three mobile suits, but it can also support several smaller vehicles like Cui tanks. The Gallop can attach an optional support pod. One unique feature is the ability for its bridge module to separate from the main unit as an aerial escape craft. Notably, one Gallop is used by Ramba Ral against the White Base on his mission to avenge the death of Earth Attack Force Commander Garma Zabi. That Gallop is destroyed in combat, and later on Ral's lover Crowley Hamon attempts to destroy Amuro Ray's RX-78-2 Gundam by packing the support pod with explosives. However, her plan fails and she is subsequently killed in combat.
