Technical and Historical Notes

 

The MS-12 Gigan was part of Zeon's Pezun Project at the Pezun asteroid base. Like the Earth Federation's RX-75-4 Guntank, the Gigan is a mobile suit that doesn't use humanoid legs for mobility. Unlike the Guntank's caterpillar treads, the Gigan has three wheels for added speed. This suit is built as an anti-air unit and is armed with a head-mounted recoilless gun, along with a pair of vulcan guns and an arm-mounted 4-barrel machine gun. The mass produced Gigan is sent to many bases for use as a defensive unit. In UC 0096, several Gigan units remain in use with the "Sleeves" faction of Neo Zeon remnants. These units have been modified for space combat through by replacing the tires with boosters. The modified Gigans sport the same decorations as other Sleeves units.
