Technical and Historical Notes

Developed at the Zeon asteroid base Axis, the AMX-002S Neue Ziel II is intended to be the successor to the AMX-002 Neue Ziel, piloted by Anavel Gato during Operation Stardust in UC 0083. Based off a similar body frame, the Neue Ziel II replaces the original's half control system with a full psycommu system and funnels. Though the Neue Ziel II features fewer weapons overall than its predecessor, the funnels give it the ability to perform a true all-range attack. Its other weapons consist of folding claw arms that mount mega particle guns and beam sabers, a pair of 80mm vulcans, and a set of missile launchers. Additionally, the Neue Ziel II is painted red since it's intended to be used by the legendary ace Newtype pilot Char Aznable. While it's developed in the first part of the Gryps Conflict, the Neue Ziel II's development is cancelled due to its high production costs and the fact that the availability of a Newtype pilot is not ensured.
