Technical and Historical Notes
A powerful mobile armor developed by the Jupiter Empire, the EMA-04 Elefante
combined high attack power and incredible defense into a single
machine. In addition to thick armor, it mounted five I-field generators
for full protection against beam weapons. Its own armaments consisted
of a powerful beam cannon mounted in a flexible "nose", giving the machine its elephantine appearance - and inspiring its name. The most important weapon, however, was the Elefante's bits, which were as large as a standard mobile suit. In addition to providing an all-range attack, the bits could be fired without detaching, which was used to create an effect similar to a scattering beam cannon. However, the Elefante's biggest flaw was its poor mobility, which effectively made it a mobile fortress rather than a mobile armor. Only one Elefante was built and used to defend the Jupiter Empire's Io base. Though it initially posed an incredible threat even to the Crossbone Vanguard's elite pilots, Kincado Nau and Tobia Arronax managed to shoot down its bits, then exploit its low speed to deal a crippling blow. This caused the Elefante to crash into a Jupiter Empire warship; with their defensive line broken, there was nothing they could do to stop the Crossbone pilots from reaching the Io base.
