Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans

Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans

Gundam Reconguista in G came to an end in early 2015, but the year closed out with the debut of the TV series Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans. Directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai (IDOLM@STER: XENOGLOSSIA), the series is written by Mari Okada (Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine) with returning staff Michinori Chiba (Gundam AGE) on character designs and mecha designs by Ippei Gyoubu (Gundam Reconguista) and Gundam 00's Kanetake Ebikawa and Naohiro Washio. The series is set in Post Disaster 323, centuries after the destructive Calamity War. Protagonist Mikazuki Augus is a member of the Martian PMC Tekkadan and pilots the war relic Gundam Barbatos as Mars seeks independence from exploitation by the Earth Sphere and its armed enforcers, Gjallarhorn. Like Gundam 00 before it, Iron-Blooded Orphans aired in two seasons. The series can be streamed with English subtitles on Daisuki and Hulu. The second season is set to air on Cartoon Network in 2017.
