Summary

The foreign MegaDeus continues its attack on Big O, but Big O shields itself with its arms, causing the foreign MegaDeus to topple over. Dastun realizes that Big O isn't moving and orders his men to provide support. Alex Rosewater, watching, asks if Roger is just one of the rotten tomatoes. Roger tries to get Big O to move with no success. He claims to not be afraid of memories. An image of Dorothy suddenly appears on the monitor inside Big O's cockpit. Meanwhile, Alan Gabriel approaches Dorothy, gleeful that Roger will suffer as well. Dorothy asks Alan what he truly is: an android like her, or something else. Alan jokingly claims to be the bogeymen. The foreign MegaDeus gets back up and walks towards Big O. As it is about to strike, the Military Police tanks fire upon it, diverting its blow. Vera asks Angel why she is providing support to someone interfering with their operations. Angel claims to be providing no support and runs off. Alan's drill-like arm nears Dorothy's face. The foreign MegaDeus punches the lifeless Big O. Roger emits some gas from it and uses the opportunity to flee, leaving Big O there. He wonders if Big O can hold out until he gets back. Dastun asks his men to cease fire to the smoke and is surprised to see Roger, who commandeers his police car and drives off. Angel calls out to Alan to stop. He asks if she is a robot lover, but Angel claims his actions are going against the best interests of the Union. Dastun asks Roger to explain himself, but Roger says that will have to wait and he's in a hurry. Roger claims that Big O advised him to go. Alan steps on Dorothy's chest and tries attacking her again with his drill-like hand. Alan says he would like to harm this android that Roger cares about more than anyone. This gets Angel to pause and she lowers her gun, then tosses it aside. She falls to her knees and wonders what she is doing. Dorothy punches Alan, knocking him over. The foreign MegaDeus continues to attack Big O, moving towards electrical charged laser blasts which deal damage to much of the surrounding area, including the military police tanks. Alan attempts attacking Dorothy again, who jumps backwards onto a railing. Suddenly the police car Roger is driving arrives. Alex, watching the foreign MegaDeus destroy "the world that his father built" says they have no idea what they are getting into and walks towards Big Fau. The police car comes to a halt and Roger and Dastun get out. Seeing Angel, Dastun claims that things have gotten complicated. Roger asks Dorothy if she is alright and she tells him that parts of her are not working. Roger says that Norman will fix her up and that Alan will pay for this. Angel, watching, flees. Alan thinks Roger couldn't possibly do anything to him without his MegaDeus, but Roger is able to knock him to the ground. The two continue to fight but suddenly a gunshot is fired. Meanwhile, Vera watches the nearby dome and calls Alex a spoiled child stuck in his father's shadow. She calls this the price he'll pay for turning his back on their treaty after obtaining the MegaDeus from them. Dastun tells Roger that he is not a police officer anymore and that he'll take care of things from here. Singing from the Union member starts again and Alan quickly flees. Dorothy falls over. The Union members continue to sing as the foreign MegaDeus's lasers continue to tear through the dome.

Roger picks up Dorothy and tells Dastun that he was right and that capturing Alan was his duty. Roger's watch starts going off. Parts of the scaffolding from the damaged dome fall to the ground, causing more destruction. Norman, who is calling on the watch tells Roger that he'll have to do something about the dome soon. Roger tells Dorothy to wait here and she says that next time he'll take her own. Dastun is despondent over the Military Police's inability to protect the city and that only forces like the MegaDeus can do so. Roger says this isn't true, and that there are just some situations that only Big O can handle. Dastun says he understands and tells Roger to get going. Vera calls for the foreign MegaDeus, which she calls "Bonaparte" to burn the city to the ground. Angel watches from a nearby abandoned building. Bonaparte makes its way towards Paradigm headquarters as the ground begins to shake. Vera wonders if it is Big O, but it is actually Big Fau, with Alex sitting in the cockpit, being raised to the surface. Alex says this is sooner than he expected, but must have been predicted in the memories. Alex calls Big Fau into action. Vera is astounded that Big Fau is already operational. Big Fau walks towards Bonaparte and knocks off one of its heads with a single punch. Bonaparte ejects its other head which floats towards Big Fau and wraps a tentacle around Big Fau, which Big Fau easily destroys. Alex gleefully pilots, saying that Big Fau was restored all along and never needed a core memory. He claims to be its core memory, and that he's a great dominus of MegaDeus. Big Fau punches right through the torso of Bonaparte, and then fires at it through weapons that come out of its shoulders. Bonaparte is completely destroyed. Dastun walks up to where Angel is standing and compares them to actors on a stage who haven't even been told what the plot is or what is going to happen next. He gives Angel back the gun she dropped earlier. He says only with these can they prove to themselves that they are who they are. The remains of Bonaparte melt to the ground. The weapons from Big Fau's shoulders suddenly start firing on their own, hitting parts of the city/dome. Alex starts trembling in fear and tries to move Big Fau on its own with no success. Big Fau continues to fire within the dome wildly. The message "Cast in the Name of God, Ye Not" appears on Big Fau's monitor, then fades out. Big Fau pauses and raises its arms to the sky as the damaged central tower belonging to Paradigm collapses. Norman and Dorothy look from outside the dome and Dorothy says that Roger is coming back. Roger, now back in Big O, is able to use it again and stands it up. He tells Big O that it has called him to action for the first time. He says it is okay if it doesn't answer him and that he knows it better than anyone. Big O walks towards Big Fau, which turns to face Big O. Alex asks what Roger is doing here and starts whining, saying this is his dome and he can't interfere. Big O grabs hold of Big Fau and calls it a monster that is cursed with the memories of the past. Suddenly Big Fau's power starts going out and the MegaDeus goes silent, falling to the ground. Alex cries out to be let out of Big Fau. Later, the sun rises over the heavily damaged dome and Big Fau remains silent in the street.

Commentary

This episode starts off a bit slow, with the Alan Gabriel pursuit of Dorothy being dragged out to an absurd length all so Roger can catch up and arrive there in time. This is also combined with some flashbacks to the previous episode, which replace the typical opening theme. It looked like this was largely going to be a waste of an episode, but things improve a lot in the second half with the unveiling of Big Fau. Alex Rosewater piloting Big Fau is quite the sight to see, with him acting like a child throughout much of the fight and its aftermath. It's quite the change for a character who has been so serious and in command of things to this point. Big Fau is an impressive MegaDeus, having an easy time with the Bonaparte MegaDeus, but mysteriously starts acting on its own, much like both Big O and Big Duo had in the past.
